I have a nice pre war sporter that I changed from a straight bolt to a low scope bolt. It was already drilled and tapped but the bolt was never changed out. The bolt almost goes to full battery but need a small amount of wood relieved to allow it to go down fully [approx.1/4 in.] Question... what tool has given you guys the best results and finished look to make a shallow bolt notch? TIA JERRY

A bastard cut round file with a little time and care.

I also use a round file plus a dremel tool with a little round cutter as well as chisels. Put inletting black on the bolt handle, close it as far as it will go, then just remove the black mark.
