I picked up my first MS yesterday. It's a very clean 1953 M1952 carbine in .308 with vintage Leupold mount and rings and a 2x7 Redfield TV view scope. Here are a few pictures.

Well that looks fun. I have been wanting to build up a 1903 for sometime now. Neat actions and very well made.

The MS has always been one of my favorite bolt action rifles! And the Redfield 2x-7x TV scope has also been my favorite rifle scope! Only thing I'd prefer is a 6.5x55 chambering!

Yeah one of the 6.5 calibers is really what I wanted but this rifle was to clean to pass on and first or second year of .308 is neat.

Those or very nice rifles, especially the carbine. I once had
a 1952 model in .308. Sold it to a man in West Memphis. The
classic stock, like on your rifle, is my favorite. The 1956 model had the ugliest stock ever put on a M-S, my opinion of course.
It had monte carlo type buttstock with severely scooped out cheek piece. Like you, I wanted a 6.5 cal but never found one in
a condition that suited me. Congratulations on the find.

Last fall, I was tempted by a M1924 that had an awkward stock repair, but the barreled action seemed pretty nice. It was at a show and looked more interesting than most of the stuff, but oh well. I almost sent my wife back on the last day, figuring she and her friend might low ball the guy and I get it for a decent deal, but I need it like a hole in the head. Still, who knows, I might run in to it again.

I once had the opportunity to buy a 6.5x55 Swede Mauser that had been customized to MS style with some high grade wood and checkering. It was the nicest full stock bolt action I've ever seen, but at that time I was short on cash and couldn't work anything out with the seller.
I still recall every detail of that gun and lust for it! That was almost 40 years ago!

A gun dealer/collector friend had this one in his collection and I had been hounding him to sell me one of his MS. He has a very large collection of Drilling,Capes,Sporting Mausers, Single barrel stalking rifles and Mannlicher-Schönauers. This is the one he decided to let go of.

Nice rifle...They are great hunters guns. I have a 1950 carbine in 6.5x54MS...I’m not thrilled with the Leupold Adsusto mount and modified it a bit with some arbor spacers to accommodate a 1.5-5x Leupold scope...The period scopes have small diameter eye pieces compared to modern scopes.

For years that rifle's twin, same scope setup + 1.5-5x, was my go-to hunting rifle. .257 Roberts. My love for that rifle plus my regrets for selling it equals my envy and best wishes for success to you with yours!
