I saw this on gunbroker, I think the sling swivels and recoil pad were later additions.
I have a pretty good guess on who the stockmaker was and thought you might enjoy
looking and speculating as well.

I've been waiting to see what people think of this rifle, but it is mighty quiet here. That is a nicely done Krag sporter, which seem to be exceptionally rare, at least when I look for them.
I have no guess as to the stockmaker, but it certainly is distinctive in the shaping of the schnable, grip, and cheek piece.

No, I wasn't the buyer, I will wait a while and tell you who I think the stockmaker was.
That cheek piece and grip sure are distinctive.
After looking through my "gun porn" file, I'll put in my guess- Sam Tobias
I haven't visited my Sam Tobias file for some time, but I agree. Tobias, unlike his follower, John Oberlies, did not seem to leave clues easy to identify on his guns.
