Every once in a while someone asked about screw and scear placement. Wolfgang pointed me towards this Norwegian website that has some pretty telling fotos of actions & adverts:

http://www.vapenbua.no/gun_list.htm

Most are down in the Classic or >>Collectable<< Section.

at the going rate (1 picture = 1,000 words)....that website is a treasure. pictures of the kettner, le hanne, akah, and eckoldt guns give me more understanding of the overhanging scear is just seconds, than all the reading and verbal descriptions i've digested over the years. getting a look at the mechanics of the herkules actions reinforces the impression of the strength of that design. and a look at the various trigger plate actions, bartels, the 1903 merkel, and the jager verschluss is worth the price of admission....i've got a jager verschluss shotgun - and just enough gumption not to take it apart for the sake of idle conjecture.

a hearty thank you to wolfgang for this resource, and kudos for sharing it with us!

best regards,

tom
