Recently an acquaintance and I were discussing barrel pitting and more specifically removing pitting in the chambers. How wise is it to hone chambers to remove pitting so long as there is sufficient barrel wall thickness remaining after the pitting is removed? What is the maximum chamber diameter for 12 gauge chambers? Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

Very simple. You don't ream out chambers. Scrub them out the best you can and shoot them.

If I had a Parker, Fox or LCS that was pitted just in front of the chamber I would be tempted to go for long forcing cones to clean up pits. Anything more would take a pro's advice to get me cutting on a chamber. Could it be you are considering the bottle necked 12/8?
