Frigid mountain winds were blowing snow squalls, covering up the bright blue skies.




The leaves are long gone and now a flushed grouse could actually be seen, looking chubby and puffy in their winter down.


Who doesn't like loafing in the sun between the spruces?


Three flushes in the morning, then the biting wind sent me inside with an empty shell, a nice bird and an old gun that didn’t need the cleaning it got.

Aye, an NID from the late 30's, not a standard grouse gun: 12 ga with 30" barrels, but it works for me (using spreader loads).
