It's nice to see you Americans still follow an old English Festival. Originally it was a Harvest Festival, giving thanks for the harvest gathered in, and although some American Presidents have altered the dates of this day, the first 'Thanksgiving' was by British settlers in the first colony settled by we Brits.

If any of Y'all or whatever, failed to shoot your own Turkey this year then go here, and have fun.

whole hog roasted over an open pit fire, smoked and fried turkey, cornbread dressing with giblet gravy, green beans, fruit compote, fresh, homemade rolls with mayhaw jelly, Pecan, apple, and chocolate pies, a variety of libations, Louisiana French roast coffee and 50 of our inlaws, outlaws, and extended family.

Nothing succeeds like excess.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

And a happy Thanksgiving to all on my end. Had a litle excitement this morning...check out my post on the woodchuck over on misfires.

Jerry, I miss the good LA food up here, sounds like a good time. I introduced fried turkey to a few friends here a couple years ago. Although it's hard to beat the boiled shrimp at the "Boiling Point" near New Iberia.

Jerry, Engraving your G&H style Springfield is going to be a hoot and I know we'll get along just fine. Both of usn's being Southern boys and all. We had country ribs, collards, yams, green beans with pumkin pie . I figure we are so much alike , all will go smoothly.

Hope all had a great Thanksgiving and to Mr. glenn --- finished your "gizzer" & will mail out today.

Ken,

Sounds like a wonderful Thanksgiving feast. Just our kind of food and it would have fit right in here on Bayou DeSaird. Do you do low country style ribs?

Texraid the shrimp will appear on the christmas menu along with crawfish etouffe and there will be flaming of the plum pudding in honor of grandmother Liles who was from the British West Indies.

I forgot to mention Melanie's famous Sweet Potato cassarole glazed with brown sugar and pecans, and Cathy's Spinach Madeline. None of which was left over.

I hope everyone had something to be thankful for.
