I have a Webley & Scott 12ga. with 26# barrels at 6# 2oz. 23/4 chambers about 1960. It's ckoked 15 and 42 thousands. I would like to open it up to skeet 1 and 2. The choke in the left barrel is 4" long. Even at mod. I would have a 2" section after the choke stops its tapper to the end of the barrel. Has anyone done any tests to see how something like this affects patterns and such? Or does all this happen so fast that there is no difference. I have used different loads to change choke but trying not to have all kinds of different shells on me at any given time. Any thoughts?? Thanks Bob

I have opened lots of chokes and even though the parallel section does get longer, they still seem to pattern pretty much like the new choke ID suggests.

As per Jim, the longer the choke parallel, the less choke effect for the actual constriction. Since choke effect is not exacting science for given constriction, I'd not worry about it. Or, you can have someone bore the choke taper forward. I have a Hellis with a 7" long taper for full. It works just like a full should.
