I've sold more old guns in the last 30 days than I did in all of last year. Don't ask me why, I don't know. But, I'm smiling all the way to the bank.

Sentiment might not be trivial then if the gun is hanging around.

It's been said before,If your worried about investments guns are not the ideal vehicle. IMO they are to collect or hunt with or shoot. There a hobby UNLESS they are your business, which in my opinion would take a lot of the fun out. I'm not a collector or much of a hunter any more. I'm more of a recycler (always in search of the "golden gun") and primarily a shooter. I don't spend a lot of time wondering about how the price of one make compares to another when I'm buying. I do spend time contemplating if I can break more birds, win more matches or shoot tighter groups with what I'm considering buying.Lately I'm spending more on reloading components than guns. I've got some nice stuff and I intend to shoot all I can.

A Parker would probably do better right now but if you are contemplating which would you be able to trade for more food or gasoline in the future de-civilization, I doubt that either would do very well. Now a DPMS or Colt M-4 would be a different story.

Truth indeed Sir John and if we invested in Old Reliables and wake up to an Apocalypse Now scenario, do we then cut down the barrels on a fine 20 bore AAHE and load with bird shot to repell borders with? I think not. One aspect of the economy that is in a growth mode, in spite Mr. Madoff's Ponzi Scheme Unlimited, is the sale of ammo- especially shotgun buckshot, .308, .223. and both .45ACP, .38 special and .357M loads, plus sales of reloading components have spiked too- I would go with the wisdom of Murphy and his many great laws- in this case, Murphy's Law regarding gold- simply put, Murphy quotes the Golden Rule as: "He who has the most gold, rules"- You want portable wealth in times of disasters pending with a known value- gold, diamonds are best- hard to imagine heading out of Dodge in your Merceedes M-Class with your Cabela's 26 gun capacity safe inside, hoping to barter your "investment grade" doubles into gas, water, food, medical supplies, shelter- the basics- Will this gloom and doom come about- probably not, but forewarned is forearmed.

I'll guarantee, if you had a table at a gun show around here, and the price was the same for either one, the Parker would sell first. I don't think that means anything except that brand recognition for a Parker is higher and with that said, I believe a Browning BSS would sell before the Parker for the same reason. I believe that this comes down to the GDP, [generally dumb public], is too brand conscious to make the best decision quality wise. At an offering just to the members of this board, I think the WR would sell first, which would be my choice, just because I have 3 Parkers and no WR's.

First, if things deteriorate to the point you need to pull the 45 auto and the mini-14 out of the safe inorder to step out on the front lawn all investments are out the window.

Not enough people know the difference between a good WR and a bad WR. Parker experts are a dime a dozen because of all the books, all the ads, and the PGCA forum.

Gold always has and always will have value. It is the true "standard".

Money is just paper.
