I own an awful lot of Brownings. New and old and never had a problem. I go to alot of the big shoots and there are alot of Browning there. I shoot mostly sporting clays. I have seen some "P" guns break down, even some "K" guns not work but never a Browning. If you maintain them, you should not have any problems. I think you just got a lemon. It happens to all gun makers. Frank

Well it could be .035 of tens of millions (700,000). If accuracy is going to be a requirement for posting here I am going to have to find another board.

Best,

Perhaps a brazilian produced?

The Department of Defense briefed the President this morning and told OBAMA that two Brazilian soldiers were killed in Iraq. To everyone's surprise, all the color drained from Obama's face. Then he collapsed onto his desk, head in his hands, visibly shaken, almost in tears.

Finally, he composed himself and asked, "Just how many is a brazilian?"

This is especially enlightening since he obviously has no understanding of billion or trillion either.

That's an old joke the liberals developed for Bush. Of course, all the color didn't drain from his face but the premise is the same.

Browning, Browning, Browning, I've heard the name so much in my life, that I have actually become a Browning hater. I'm just sick of hearing the name from mostly people that are generally ignorant of guns and the quality thereof. Oh, they rant and rave how superior Browning is over any other gun, it just makes me sick. It's clear they have never spent any time hanging around a skeet range and seen the newbies come out with their new Browning A5's to start shooting skeet and most break or have some malfunction before they get through the first round. Well, I'll tell you, if it turns out that they really like the sport, it isn't long before they would buy a Remington 1100, like 90% of the regular shooters out there shot with, because of the recoil factor and they just never broke down.

I can remember the club putting one 1100 through a torture test to see how many rounds could be put through it before a jam or malfunction. Now, this gun was taken new out of the box, and handed to everyone who needed or wanted to shoot it. It still sticks in my mind the number 548 as the correct amt before a stove pipe occurred, and then another 500+ before another stovepipe, at which time the gun was finally cleaned. No Browning lovers need to try this test to compare the two guns, because I can assure you it will be a test in "futility"!

A friend that works in a local gun shop is just as sick of the Browning bull, that he hears every day, as I am. Don't get me wrong, Browning builds good guns, but there are many brands as good and some just a lot better.

I guess I am considered a rebel in most things or situations, like I always vote for the underdog, bet on the horse with the longest odds, and shy away from the generally considered "Best" items, so don't hold it against me...it's just my nature.

Thanks, I've been wanting to get that out for a long time and you Browning lovers...give it a rest!

i have a friend who has shot a Mossberg, I bet, 20,000 rounds in and never cleaned it or oiled it. Never misfired and always worked. Does that make it a better gun than a Browning or an auto-clunker? Browning has made a lot of guns in different models and to me and to a lot of people, they are the guns to go to. How many models has Remington made that were any good? I have shot with a few guys that had a 1100 model but not for long. They hang up, won't fire, won't fed the shells right. I have two that I can't give away. The 870 is a better gun. There is a reason that most people shoot a Browning. By the way, what gun was the first automatic shotgun made for the U.S.? They did make a few so they must be a pretty good gun. Do you have any idea how many patents John Browning had in gun making? Must have been a good maker of guns.

The 870 is a better gun than that 1100??

This is too subjective. I was a full time Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor for about 11 years. Many people will short stroke an 870 and cause jams. I have seen several 870 jams on pheasant hunts also.

90% of the regular shooters out there use a 1100??

I must politly disagree with these statements.

I do not see that many people shooting 1100s at skeet anymore but I might move in different circles that you. I think they are a great gun and I know that Bender shot one for years and unless my memory fails me, I watched a young man use one to win the 12 ga event at the World Skeet shoot last year but you still see more K-80s than anything else. Caveat, I am a large person and like large heavy guns but I believe I can separate my opinions from observations.

I still like Citoris but my back up gun(which I have never needed)is an SKB. One of the reasons is it has a mechanical trigger which I prefer on a skeet gun because it does not need a modification for the 410 tubes.

Don't confuse me with fancy math!

Are you going to Raton this year for the SXS thing? I have tried to call Joe several times.

This is 2009.
How many new A5 Brownings are there? And where did they find one?

Did you get stuck in a time machine?

I can only speak of what I PERSONALLY witnessed. I must admit it is a little dated, but that doesn't make it any less true to the point of judging quality. Are we to just ignore what happened in the past, I always thought past performance was a big factor in judging a product.

I'm old now, and my skeet shooting days were in the later 60's and early 70's, and I actually shot a lot of skeet with an 1100, mostly reloads, and can truthfully say, I never had a malfunction. We found the secret was to only clean the gas tube with 0000 steel wool, never oil, which would cause jams. I shot quite a bit with a fellow that was Grand National Champion 3 times, and all he owned was 1100's with factory mounted Cutts Compensators. I'm sure someone out there may remember his name, Mr. George Vicknair, and I know he's listed as a previous champion somewhere in the records.

In my era, I can tell you it, the 1100, was at least 90% the gun of choice for Skeet, but it did not hold true for the Trap shooters, they shot mostly Over & Under Brownings, Kreighoffs, etc. on doubles, and single shots with 32" tubes for handicap.

I guess like all things, times have changed, but like someone said, "Those that forget the past are destined to repeat it."

So, that concludes my rant, ya'll carry on.
