Hi Gang:
Kindly look at item 12577971 on Gun Broker.com and tell me what you think about this gun. I have been looking for a Beretta BL 4 20 ga. for some time and saw this gun.
The picture makes the gun look like the action has been reblued and now has a plumb purple look at about it. I called the owner about it and he said that the action did have a different colour than the barrels. He also stated that a lot of foreign guns have this mismatched receiver/barrel colours.
When I asked about a return period for my approval, he said that his store has a no return policy! I would like your opinions about this dealer and the gun as I have a bad feeling about this transaction.
Thanks,
Franchi

I couldn't find the listing on Gun Broker. I have a BL 4 20 gauge that the reciever has a purpleish hew to it. I think it's a mid 70s manufactured gun. I did not buy this gun new but I feel certain this was original because the gun is still in like new condition. I never minded the color difference, and the gun shoots and handles great for me. If you have a bad feeling about this guy then by all means stay away. I certainly wouldn't buy a used gun with a no return policy. What if it has a major problem?

My 12 ga GR3 was going a bit purple before I had the frame reblued (it's a shooter), so I wouldn't worry too much about the color.
On the other hand, I simply won't do business with ANY internet sellers who have a no return policy, unless it's a known entity (like CSMC or MGW) and I'm buying a close-out item at a blow-out price. Let this guy keep his Beretta.

My 1971 bl4 20ga does have a different color to the reciever than the barrels, but no purplish hue that I can see.

Hi Franchi, I had a BL-3 in 12ga and mine also had "mismatched" bbls and action color. No big deal to me at least. Good gun, nice and light and well made.
As to the seller, if he does not have an inspection or return policy, forget him. It maybe a good gun, them again, you maybe buying is headache.
Good Luck and all the best!

Yeah, some BL series Berettas are purple from the factory. This looks like a nice one. I don't imagine you would have to return it.

The color is quite normal for the older BL series. I would be a little concerned about the bend to the rib in front of the firt bead. Price seeems more than fair as prices go but, without return privilages I would be hesitant. Ron
