Hammer gun 12G made in 1885 s/n 30 found in Moscow.
Double barrel set, but seems fluid steel barrels (ML Cockerill steel) made later, than damascus barrels by E.Heuse-Lemoiner.
Pay attention mark 17,0 on damascus barrels. 17,0 means bore diameter in mm and actually it's 16G. As soon as these barrels been sold in white with the first provisional proof only, Matska overbored barrels till 12G later.
Steel barrels got very unprofessionaly made sign on top of barrels 'F.Matska in St.Petersburg' and it's probably means it's been fitted not by Matska, but by somebody else. OR this sign badly restored.

Matska with Bernard fluid steel barrels

Leopold died in 1867, but his company made barrels until 1890. Very similar markings and I wonder if Heuse-Lemoine acquired the rights to use the Bernard name and actually made the barrels??

Я понимаю Geno. Heuse-Lemoine получило право использовать товарный знак Беrnard?

Where did you see L.Bernard's trade mark on H-L barrels?
Yes, these marks look very much alike, but Bernard used words LB under crown in oval, H-L - E?/H-L/Ce in oval.

The fluid steel barreled Matska marked Bernard was a big surprise Geno, and I wonder if Heuse-Lemoine actually made the barrels but had the rights to the highly regarded Bernard trademark?

Жидкая сталь barreled Бернард маркированное Matska была большим сярпризом Geno, и я интересую если Heuse-Lemoine фактически сделало бочонки но имело права к высоки, то - сосчитанным товарным знаком Бернард?

Heuse Lemoine was a major barrel maker and supplier, using smaller Vesdre valley makers
http://www.littlegun.be/arme%20belge/artisans%20identifies%20h/a%20heuse%20lemoine%20gb.htm
Claude Gaier's Four Centuries of Liege Gunmaking sheds light on the connection between US and Belgian firms. Ernest Heuse-Lemoine (1834-1926) from Nessonvaux was a force in the Vesdre Valley for barrel making. He maintained agents in London, Birmingham, and New York and his firm supplied the Belgian royal court. Every 3 years he would travel aboard and upon his return, would be met by a band in celebration because he always came back with more work orders than his own firm could handle. He would then distribute some of the work to smaller barrel makers in the Vesdre. Gaier states that Heuse-Lemoine supplied damascus barrels for at least 50 years to US makers, and that he invented the names of "Boston" and "Washington" damascus especially for the American market.
The Bernard name and trademark was highly regarded throughout Europe, and gaining the rights to the name would have been a big coup for Heuse-Lemoine.

Well likely wrong again. Just noticed the Ferdinand Drissen 1897-1898 price sheet listing Bernard II "Made by Heuse-Lemoine."
It doesn't make sense IF they had the rights to the Leopold Bernard name, that they'd market their own Bernard II.

Hello to Geno & others. It´s been long time when I at the last time wrote here, but I try to improve my practice:

Finnish collector who is owner of Matska hammergun s/n 17 just bought s/n 290 hammerless sidelock at gun auction. Here are some pictures of beauty:

Cal 12/70 nitro, two sets of barrels and stock with cheek piece. Hammer price 3.000 euros + 10% buyers premium.
