This is very sad, but there was no loss of life, and this is most important--
What are the thoughts about gun safes--recommendations etc.

No one likes to see a situation like this and my thoughts are with the owner. It does however raise a question. Did these guns get hot enough to lose the temper in the metal?
Let me also add my wishes for the vets here.

Those guns are junk. When I bought my safe I asked the fire chief about fire safes. His reply was that,"If you have a real fire, forget it. Not much survives a real house fire".
Have heard reports that a deep freeze will save a good deal of it's contents in a not so real fire.
Glad no-one was hurt.

My Mossberg's have trained more kids (and, on occasion, their mother's) gun safety than you could in the remaining years of sorry life you have left, if you started today, which, you won't.
Hope you figured out how to read a map of Europe, but, hope springs eternal after all. Germany 'ain't Belgium, you know.
Or, should know, by now, anyway.

My heart reaches out to the owner of this house. As said before at least there was no loss of life, the guns are only material objects.
What this drives home to me is the reminder to make sure my guns are covered with enough insurance.
Thanks to all the vets here! It's because of you that I'm able to enjoy the freedoms we have here in America
