Looks really nice, but I am not sure if that is a reasonable starting price or not.

It's a beautiful gun but cross bolt lockup is not something I care for. He forgot to mention that the barrels have been sleaved. Wouldn't the proof marks show that or isn't it required to stamp that it was sleaved? That means the barrels have been refinished. Note the damascus pattern on the barrel flats.

Sleeved in the States? If done in England it wasn't sent for reproof.
The engraving on the top of the barrels nicely duplicates the original.
$8k?? Holy sh*t. I guess he hasn't noticed the market has softened.

Hojo inquiring minds want to know............How much would you spend on it? Beautiful gun and all, but not 8k beautiful unless you had STUPID money. I like this gun, although of an older vintage, a very complete package. http://www.drake.net/scott2bblH&H

What a shame. Superb quality best gun, saddled with an extensive, poorly done "restoration", and badly misrepresented. Inspiring.

Nice gun but the sleeving job isn't the best I've seen; although I have seen much worse. I would prefer it to have gone back through a British proof house. A bit on the pricey side, but that's comparing it in the British trade. If all original with damascus barrels and in proof it would be worth every penny. Lagopus.....

I wouldn't pay over 3 or 4 grand....because it's been sleeved and not properly marked or proofed.

Looks like a Briley sleeving job, certaintly not a Merrington, plus it has an American style low luster barrel blacking job-not the English high luster that "barrelbrowner" and others can do in England.
It is a shame as this is one of the finest original condition Premier actions I have ever seen. This gun was made in the time when the Premier sold for more than a Purdey SLE. HJ is right on on the max price it is worth. And at that price you could send it to England and have it sleeved and proofed. It deserves new barrels, though.
