This weekend is the big gun show in Louisville. I know I'll be looking at two Ithaca's. One is a Flues grade 2 20ga. price before haggle 550.00. Second is a Lewis(i think)grade 3 12 ga. 650.00. I havn't seen these guns, but I do know the man is respectable and honest. He grades them overall at 70%. I usually take that with a grain of salt. However, if they are solid with no major problem(which he said there are none)even at 20% they are at a good price? I'm not obligated in anyway, so I'll check them out real good. BTW, these are damascus. So what you think? Cheers,

They can't be much of a gun at those prices. You will be lucky if they have both barrels.

A Grade 3 Lewis for $650?
Wow.
Either its a great deal, or there is some currently undisclosed issue with the gun.

I have conversed with this gentleman for over 3 months now. At the last Louisville show is where I met him. He had a Parker D grade on a 1 frame for 1350.00. At the time I didn't have the cash, so I had to walk. But before I did I took his card. This is just a hobby for him and has collected a numerous quanity of doubles and other guns over the years. I called him up in hopes that he still had the Parker, no luck. But he told me what he did have and he would hold them for my inspection at the next show. So I'm not obligated in any way. I'll have my wall thickness gauge with me and some help from a few friends to comb over the two guns. But if they are solid no cracks in wood, not too much pitting in bores and if guns are original I expect to buy them. If I remember correctly he trade that Parker for a Browning Citori and a Weatherby rifle. If he was asking 1350.00 I think he done well? The Parker was just okay, needed to be cleaned up and maybe a reblue of the damascus but other than that it would have been a super shooter. Cheers,

If the plan is to meet him at the show, heed dblfever's recommendation. Taken at face value, the chances of such 70% guns going during the table set-up period are high. I'd consider calling him again and working out some arrangement that at least keeps you in the running.

No no no..........I've already talked with him this week. He's holding them until I get there. Which may not be until Sunday, which he agreed thats fine. I know all this sounds to good to be true and I'm not really gettin my hopes up too high. But you never know, they may just be nice enough for that kind of money.
