A year or two ago someone posted the method of changing a Mec 10 gauge single stage press from 3 1/2" to 2 7/8". I've lost my print copy and I was wondering if anyone might have it and could pass it along. Thank you.

At least with my MEC 600 Jr the change is pretty simple. Just like the 12 and 20 (and even 16 Ga) 600s that can be changed from 2-3/4" to 3", the main upright bar can be adjusted for height by repositioning the large hex-headed screw located in the base beneath the loading surface.

The 10 ga 600 Jr I have has the holes in the bar and base set up by the factory to enable a change from 3-1/2" down to 2-7/8". No cost whatsoever, you only need an appropriately-sized wrench.

Nice touch by MEC for 10 gauge folks!

I use the short kit on my Mec 600 Mark V for 2 7/8" 10 ga reloading and it works fine.

Thank you for the replies. I have a short kit, but it is the 12 gauge model. I tried changing the height of the bar and was unable to get the crimp working. I'll take another look at it in the morning.

The short kit won't work when going from 3 1/2" to 2 7/8".
The short kit is for a 1/4" adjustment.
You should be able to lower the center post from a 3-1/2" shell to a 3" shell, then use the short kit, to get you to 2-7/8".
You'll have to readjust your crimp station no matter how you do it.

On my 600 it was (as far as I could figure) the ONLY way to use the 3 1/2" press to load 2 7/8" shells. Adjustments were of course needed.
