And I by mine, whomever I am.
I agree with DH and DW; it was a delightful, especially lightweight, high grade German double which was very pleasing to the eye.
Should it, and all the "Wells Fargo" doubles have been left alone? Oh, of course.
But what fun, excitement, intrigue, and good discussion it has brought! It's been to at least two Vintage Cup events, even entered into the Concourse de Elegance at one years event.
It seems the person who entered it, placed a strip of white, I'll call it "aiming tape" along the length of the rib, covering the name, to see how it would be judged on it's own merit.
Our good friend, Jack Dudley, acting as one of the judges that year reported afterwards that it was chosen to win the category, too, until one of the judges, on a second look-around, peeled away a length of tape, revealing the inscription on the rib; a statement Jack will no doubt stand by also.
But here is what's cool: It's still "out there" and will surface again some day.
Now, I'm going bird hunting; God willing, I'll check back in 3-4 weeks.
