I have a benelli black eagle with two tone blue and white metal etch engraving from back in the day, seen some use,and would basically like to remove the blue anodize chemically so it would be a silver reciever like on current models, and remove the gouges in the aluminum while Im at it.
Any suggestion for a non aggresive home depot grade stripper?

Billy, I did a bow a while back that was annodized and the only way I found to take it off was glass bead it. And it came off instantly and left a perfect base for the paint job I had put on it. I've heard oven cleaner will work as a chemical stripper, but not certain of that. Good luck. JW

NaOH ( sodium hydroxide) in water solution is the standard method for removing annodized coating. Heavy duty oven cleaner, Red Devil Lye ( drain cleaner)all contain it. It doesn't take a strong solution and it will continue to attack the bare aluminim after it removes the oxide, so wash it off very well as soon as the oxide coat is gone. I recommend rubber gloves and chemical goggles as it is very difficult to wash it out of your eyes.
