Does anyone have the weight and gold content of the gold initial shields on the old ithacas?

The new CSM ovals are 10K gold and cost $265.

Thank you

Lou

I don't know the gold content but one I worked on had a gold crest not an oval, and it was rose colour gold,...I might have a picture somewhere

Claudio,
would the rose color indicate a higher content of alloying metal like possibly copper?

That's exactly what it is Chuck,..also one thing to keep in mind is that on some of these ovals/shields the body itself was silver and only had a thin gold film soldered on the surface,...found that out the hard way

Different colors does not have to mean lw gold content.

14K gold can be yellow, white or red.

I would suspect that red gold has more copper than the white and yellow varieties.

Dont know about other metals being in gold, but pink gold is/was mined in the Black Hills of South Dakota; in the original mines that started all the trouble with the Sioux. The mine closed and opened operations over the years depending on prevailing gold price(s). The jewelry was a pretty big seller in Deadwood about 15-20 years ago and was nice combinations of white, yellow and pink gold.
