I know it's been discussed a million times.
The Ithaca SxS, made in Italy by the firm of Armi Beschi.

Is this the good one or the not so good one?
serial number is 470---.
Thanks.

Here's a thread regarding ICD's,

http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=137957&page=1

From what I've been able to ascertain, the Beschi's were/are less than desireable.
I believe your question is answered in the first reply.

Here is a nice ICD on GunBroker(OK,it's mine, ($10 to Dave)).

Bob, you messed up your links--posted the same one twice. No link to your gun on Gunbroker.

The Beschi-marked guns would be the ones to avoid.

Sorry Larry.
Perhaps it was some kind of Freudian thing whereby maybe I'm trying to sabotage the sale of this fine 28 gauge because I really want to keep my...NAH!

I didn't notice a serial number in the gunbroker ad. Also, no mention of the origin.

Buttstock and Forend started out as a tree.
Barrels and Receiver began somewhere deep in the bowels of the earth.

Very nice gun, Bob. SN would indicate the barrels and action came from Italy. Stunning wood.

In speaking with a former ICD employee, I believe he said the Beschi guns were made from rejected ICD parts.

Thank you. If the later barrels were Krupps, where did the actions come from?

BTW, I had a chance to meet and speak with Gunter Pfrommer in Las Vegas in January. Beschi guns aside, when I asked him to address the perceived quality issues between the Ithaca Classic Doubles 470's and the ICD 471's, his opinion was that the 471 "better quality" arguement held no merit. That from the guy responsible for the production of the ICD's. What's your opinion? Thanks, Bobby.
