New this year: Chapuis double rifle being built on 28 ga frame in 6.5x57, 7x65R, 8,57JRS, 30-30 and 9.3x74. Dont think 9.3 will be fun to shoot. supposed ot be under 6 1/2 lbs. round body with ejectors. has me thinking. Wish it was in 30-40 Krag.

Brian, The 7 x 65R is a perfectly lovely round. Not that well known on this side of the pond but will certainly handle any North American big game with exception of Brown Bears in heavy cover. Would be a delight to carry when built on a 28g frame!

Should come in between $5-10K, I'd guess. Chapuis has a custom shop and are quite approachable. You want a 30-40 or a .303 or a .348 W-W, drop 'em a note. You want vanilla, they got vanilla. You want double choclate fudge ripple carmel swirrill with pecans, walunts and sprinkles, they can do that, too.

I spoke with the factory Chapuis folks from St. Etienne recently. They make double rifles and shotguns in both u/o and s/s form. Many folks I know in the UK and Europe use their DR for stalking as well as monterias (sp.)
Since they are all built on their scaled frame, I'd like to have pairs of u/o 12s, 20s, 28s all with a suitable sets of rifle barrels in whatever caliber is appropriate - you pick since I know little about rifles as such. Shall I order DT with true POW grips?
BTW they told me they hadn't made a 16 bore of any configuration in recent memory.

I was fortunate to buy an unfinished double rifle project at a gunsmith's estate auction recently. It is a 30-30 built on a Merkel 20g ejector SxS. The barrels were not struck out and the ribs were a little ungly from a cosmetic standpoint. But most of the hard work was done. Got it for a song.
I proofed it to mame sure it was sound and it was.
I am working on re-regulating it since i have no idea what load it was built for and it was not shooting good with what i wanted to shoot. And i wanted to change the ribs on it anyway. I think i have it dialed in. The next trip to the range will tell for sure.

Don,
Not sure which one the original post refers to but I just took delivery of the X4 in 30-06. It was less than 6k to my door.
Now I have DR,s in 45-70 and 30-06. From an ammo standpoint I can buy off the shelf and the regulation is spot on.

Do you know if its available in 22 Hornet or 222. If so I might have to have one.
Thanks

30-30 in a double rifle just sounds wrong, how about .303 British. Now that would be a deer rifle! CHAZ
