Chopper: I'm no expert on these, and don't know enough about Ithaca case colors to be a judge of originality, but I do suspect a nice refinish on at least some surfaces. The buttplate suggests years of typical hunting and handling use (note the hundreds of little dings in the heel, for instance), and is that some kind of wood filler on the underside of the forend? It's ugly and out of character, whatever it is. I think the wood was refinished some time ago and then got a bit more age on it. Also look at the triggerguard and barrel finish, both of which look darn-near perfect in these pics. Still a nice gun, but probably safest to consider it a shooter. Note also that Cabelas is rating the gun only as "good" in all categories, acknowledging a certain lack of virginity which, as a condition, is overrated anyway.
