Does anyone have a report on the Nimrod Classic, over this past weekend? I was sad to have to cancel out.
TIA,

Too bad, Jim,

I was there for the first time and only for the first day.
Very relaxed setting, nice course of sporting clays at the Gallatin range and many beautiful guns, not to mention the good company.

Jim, the shoot was a lot of fun , in a nice venue in the low mountains above Three Forks where the Gallatin, Madison, and Jefferson rivers come together to form the Missouri river. Although we've had a month of rainy weather, unusual for here, we had two days of good weather for the shoot. Lots of interesting guns. The high shooter was Frank Stewart with an 89 out of 100. He used a beautiful, 98% original condition Scott hammer gun. We didn't get a chance to see all of the guns, but a few that come to mind were a cased Westley Richards droplock, a beautiful Blanch sle 16 ga. engraved like a Watson Bros. or a Holland Royal with the background removed. I used a C E Overbaugh hammer gun that was sourced by Lindner, but , like some others, I worked hard to get over 50%. Targets were all quite shootable in their setup. Hats off to Charlie Pfleger of Hill Rod and Gun for setting up the shoot.

A nice thing was getting to meet Silver and having a tailgate gun show with a friend who showed a Fukert drilling, a Mac Naughton round action, a fine Kessler hammer gun that was proofed in Belgium, which seemed unusual. A few other guns which I can't recall at the moment.

It was a very nice weekend and the weather was perfect. Gallatin Clays is a good venue and the targets were all shootable. I enjoyed seeing guys shooting their vintage guns. I shot my J. Blanch SLE 16ga and took home some metal with it.

With a fine gun on his arm, a man becomes a sporting gentleman, both on the field and off.

It was a good shoot. It was fun putting faces with the names and talking guns, it was nice to meet Serban and Daryl in person finally. The course was very shootable, though challenging, lots of fun presentations. I didnt get a chance to look at very many guns, I did get to play with Serbans "new" Macnaughton, which was a real treat.

It was a great shoot with many nice shotguns and great shooting companions. There was a variety of shotguns to view and dream about. I tried my luck with my 16ga Beretta SxS's from years ago along with a 12ga 450EL Beretta. I'm sure looking forward to next year. Hope you can make it Jim. The Broken Spur Motel was clean and very quiet.
Best,
Ron

The Lefever Arms Collectors Association is looking seriously at making this event the site of our next Uncle Dan Cup next year. We had a good time at the NE SxS this year for our first annual event. However, I realize that is a long way for some of our western members.
Comments about this proposal would be appreciated.
