Santa brought a copy, finished it last night.
Interesting at times, though somewhat repetitious, it gives a good historical overview of large rifle development from percussion thru today. It's probably required reading for those very unterested in the subject.

I'll say one thing for TW, he pulls no punches when he thinks a product isn't up to snuff. I doubt he'll be invited to the next writer's seminar at Remington, Winchester(Olin or Usrac), Barnes, Federal, CZ or Weatherby. And the chances of him gaining admission to Germany, Austria or France appear to be slim, to none.

On the other hand, he seems to be totally in the tank for Trophy Bonded (under Jack Carter) and A-Square. I firmly believe if one opens the OED to the entry for "pompous ass" one will find a photo of Art Alphin. IMHO.

Noticed a few technical errors, might have been typos.
Though the book was just released, there's no mention of the demise of USRAC, which we knew of a year(?) ago.

Overall, a good read for the big bore rifle nut, but not nearly as good as Spanish Best.

African Rifles & Cartridges I bought for $10 at local used book store was far better deal, but TWs book is worth the $25 I paid @ Amazon for it. 'The rifle.....' by S.R. Turesdell was more interesting.
I believe the 'Bible' of 'Worshipful Members of I'm goin to 3rd World Country to Hunt' is 'Any Shot You Want....Rifle Manual' from A-2.
TW's book is not w/o errors, for example, H&W and Heym do not use Johanssen action. In fact, last I looked Johanssen used Eastern European actions sold by Prechtl. You know, that's Gottfried Prechtl from Weinheim, the maker of famous GOL marksman's rifles.
Heck all one needs is Heym .375 bolt gun and 80 rounds of ammo + 50k (just make sure it shoots well in your rifle and it's loaded with Swift-A-Frame and Speer Grand Slam African Tungsten core solids).
