Just picked up a Husqvarna 310 at a show. Barrels measure 27 1/2 " (70cm) This lenght seems to be standard. But what are or were the lenghts commonly available. Thanks Bob

I have 310s with 70 and 72 cm barrels. I'm currently up "North" but I have a couple of Husqvarna catalogues, and I seem to recall 74 cm barrels offered for the Pigeon Gun.

My Husqvarna and Sauer top opening lever, hammer doubles mostly have 75 cm barrels. I consider 75 cm pretty much standard, although have and have seen several with barrels +/- 5,0 cm from this. Some Husqvarna, top lever opening, hammer doubles have 85 cm or longer barrels (even 100 cm!!) and seem to have been popular for shooting the little roedeer (rådjur). These are hammer guns made from about 1890 to about WW1.
Once internal (boxlock) hammer guns became common, seems to me that barrel lenghts were generally shorter, 70 cm or so. Recall 67 cm, 73 cm on some guns.
Handling of older, top opening lever hammer doubles with 75cm barrels, and made by Husqvarna, Sauer or Merkel is, to me, distinctly better than for later boxlock, internal hammers doubles by same companies. But then, I really like lightweight, long-barreled hammer doubles for all my shotgun hunting.

Bob, congrats on your new Husky. My book shows 310s available with 65,68,70,72 and 75cm tubes.
Husky 310s are great guns and sold for the same money as D grade Parkers in the 1920s.

My 1890ish JP Sauer double hammergun has 73cm barrels. Also have a set of C. Hubner,Suhl,double barrels 80cm in length, but these are muzzleloading barrels...a different ballgame!
