A buddy of mine was at an auction a few days ago and there was a 28 ga. Bonehill, fluid steel barrels, and hammers that was up for sale. It did not meet reserve. However my question is is this possible? I've never heard of a 28 Bonehill let alone a hammer gun. If in fact it was the real deal, what should a gun like that sell for at auction. The reserve was $1,500.00.

The reserve was $1,500.00. Is that a typo? If the reserve actually were one thousand, five hundred, then that gun should be gone, gone, gone.

It was a very small town estate auction. Mid week middle of the day. Not a lot of players for a high end gun like that here that nobody has heard of. The question still remains. Did they actually make one, and what should it sell for?

Have a 20 and a 16, but never seen a 28, who knows!

Tell your buddy to go back to the auction house and try to buy it right now for the reserve amount. Or, PM the contact to me and I'll try to buy it.

In my 1920 Bonehill Catalogue it states that on request 24, 28, 32, gau & 410 bore in the "Bonehill New Model" hammer guns with treble-bolted, wedge fast actions were available. --- John Can.

Almost anything is possible but why convert a rifle to a shotgun if a 28 is available on special order. No doubt quite scarce but available, the catalogue write up also indicates that the smaller gauges usually ended up / were preferred in Central / South America. FWIW --- John Can.
