I just acquired an old Greener double in about 85 percent condition. 30 inch barrels choke full/mod. Chambers are 3 inch. It is a boxlock, greener cross bolt, marked on the barrel "Patent Treble Wedge Fast" and "WW Greener. 68 Haymarket London. Winner at All Gun Trials. 1875 To 1890. "Sterling Steel". Serial number 33517. It does not have safety which leads me to think it may have been a pigeon gun ???/ Any information as to model, grade, year of production, etc. would be appreciated. Tom

Made in the early 1890s, I would say 1890 or 1891 (30600 was made in 1887, 38917 in 1895). Get the WW Greener letter by all means.
With kind regards, Jani

Jani/Daryl, Many thanks. I have already sent Greener an email requesting such a letter and any availability of parts, etc. Thanks again for your quick response. Tom

I have Serial No. 19840, a lovely 16-bore with 28" 6-iron damascus barrels just beautifully refinished by Brad Bachelder. I am writing Graham Greener for a letter, but would appreciate any guess as to age.

The WW Greener that I have, serial number 34347 is from 1892. Top of barrel in oval Patent Treble Wedge Fast. On rib St. Mary's Square, Birmingham, England then Winner of all gun Trial 1875-1891. I'm not sure of the grade either, but looks like a Forester or Empire Grade. Barrels are 27 1/8" and are imp. cyl. and lt. full. Weighs 6 lbs even. From your writing on barrel compared to mine, your gun was made in 1891 Bore size should be stamped on receiver, mine is stamped 13 meaning .710. But now is .727 and .728. Also looks like the company moved between 1891 and 1892.

I just found a Greener 12 bore BLNE with side safety, 30 inch Damascus barrels s/n 34824 and "list No 57" after the serial number. According to my friend's British gunmaker's book it was made around 1890 What was "List No 57?" A bit beat up, but barrels are in good shape, no pits, and the gun is tight on face. It will clean up nicely and I got it for a song. Mike

My nice old under lever hammer is 50986 for 1901 I got that from Graham Greener just before he started the fee look-up. But thats not much help...but tells us Greener made 1500 plus Guns in 10 years??? That can't be right? 150 per year? WHOOPS I think I was missing a Zero there.. 1500 a year seems much better WW cranked em out

Thanks to all for their shared information on old Greeners. Is there a book on Greeners like the ones on Ithaca, Lefever, L.C. Smith, etc. A publication with pictures of various models, information about production/manufacture dates, etc.???? Tom
