Frank:
After searching a bit, I have rediscovered a Kalezky airgun from circa 1860 with what I think to be what the globe sight might have been and a stepped lock. So, I guess you could hold 1860 as a midpoint and allow a variance of 10 years on each side of that. I had 1st thought the stepped lock may have originated in Suhl but Vienna was a retail centre where some guns were finished and others were ordered in a finished state and just retailed. Vienna was where the money was and many times a firearms merchant had little more than a work bench to do a little fine tuning or very small repairs. Weipert in Czechia was a production centre and many of the Budapest, Prague and Vienna firearms merchants sourced the craftsmen at Weipert for components and examples. Many times Belgian marks are found and I think that the Weipert craftsmen sourced the Belgians.
Kind Regards,
Raimey
