Does anyone have a source for exploded views, drawings and or schematics that would help in the disassembly/reassembly of an early 1900 16 gauge VH grade Parker?

Jack,
Thank you so much. I have a friend with that issue of Gun Digest and I'm going to look at it tomorrow.

Jim:
If you've never taken a hammerless Parker apart before (which I must assume) please proceed in a MOST cautious way. They are a bit more complicated than most A&D boxlocks... and some parts are easy to lose. Also... the NRA information does NOT tell you that you must FIRST remove the sear pin and sears to remove the buttstock (on a totally original gun anyway). If you bodger this step you can easily chip/damage the stock head.

And please... if the bottom plate screws are original and unbuggered, grind a turnscrew to fit them precisely -- and use it carefully. Nothing shames an old Parker more than buggered bottom plate screws.

Best advice to a novice on taking down a Parker is to do as little of it as possible.

Best, Kensal

The Gun Digest step by step is detailed on sear axle removal and hammer pivot and pivot lock screw removal.

Jim, this is the best I can do fer you. It's a picture of Amarillo Mike touching off his Parker 'n blackpowder loads last week on a quail hunt. Purdy good exploding view so maybe it'll help a little fer disassembly but you're on your own with the reassembly. Darnit! I told him it'd be best to cut back a little on the powder! But nooo way, he said, "I wanna be sure this sucker goes off........." Last I heard the doctors said they might be able to remove the whole body cast in a year 'n he oughta be able to pass the barrels without an enema.

One suggestion: if Amarillo Mike ever calls and offers to take you on a quail trip pretend you're deaf or sumpin' and can't understand him.
