I need some examples of engraving for my new 16 gauge. I do not want English Rose and Scroll, I prefer something less "busy". It will have a GSP on one sideplate and pheasants on the other, but I'd like to see some examples of nice sideplates. Google has not helped much as it returns mostly rifle/pistol or shoddy engraving. Any inputs would be appreciated. Not looking for deep relief or bulino.

Here's a sideplate with dogs. Not sure how elaborate you want to go. Another with a little less engraving below.

You might want to check some makers' websites. Aya for instance shows various engraving patterns on their website, including some dogs.

Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

I'm not fond of full coverage small scroll engraving like Churchill's signature style. However, scroll combined with game scenes is an excellent combination. The pic posted above that shows an action done by Ken Hurst is an excellent example.

I do like medium and large scroll as long as there's some kind of pattern or flow to it.
