The proud owner has taken us through the engraving of the gun. I love the metal work. Maybe he will do the same sort of trail of effort for the stock work and wood selection.

That's what I love about this Forum!
A guy puts his heart and soul as well as considerable money into a gun and individuals feel free to trash the results with absurd language.
A simple, "I don't care for the engraving or wood" could have sufficed.
I will be surprised if we get any more information about the gun or Posts from VHS410.-Dick

Mate awesome! I have saved the pics. I want a Darne style action one day, and you have shown what is possible! Great work! it looks lovely. Be proud of that great little gun!

What is it about these old guns that draws us in?

Well, since the reviews are about 20 to 1 in favor of the little peashooter, I doubt it bothers the owner much. I like to throw a little hard critique into the mix sometimes when I don't think something is worthy of excessive praise. Nothing personal you know.

Like when you get upset when someone dogs out anything CSMC?? What a hoot. :-) Darnes ugly? Hardly. Darnes an engineering marvel? Yes. Darne highly fitted and finished? Yes. Darne extremely well balanced? Yes. Darne the strongest SxS ever? Yes. RBL ugly? You betcha. RBL engineering marvel? Not so much. RBL nicely fitted and finished? No & No. RBL well balanced? Yes, if you like 2x4's that go bang. Just a little critique, nothing personal, you know.

French blood getting a little hot, eh LeFusil? Wow again. I guess this means you won't be getting an RBL?

The wood on the gun almost looks like a graft to me. I suppose it could just be root burl turning into the growing part of the tree. But there are lots of grafts out there since almost all modern (last hundred or so years) walnut trees are grafted onto different rootstock.
