Hello Dig, really the thanks should go you. I've found your book to be of great service and a wonderful reference. You are the first author I know of that put into words and in plain english the ins and outs of Brit guns. It's a straight forward approach that has helped many of us.
While I've found Wieland's book good, yours is far better IMO.
The only thing I would have added is an index, a minor point however.
In short your book is a must for those getting into Brit guns as well as old hands.
Thank you again!
All the best to you!
Greg

Victor Ventors, You pay nice compliments to Diggory on his volume I am sure he will be appreciative. I also sent him a note after I read my copy. Vic,YOU are the leader of the "Younger Generation" of writers who are able to explain the Intricacies of the Inner Sanctum with clear and concise language, and you are just '40'!!!All the Hrs that you have spent in the"Real Gunmakers" Workshops is going to pay off now that YOUR book,"GUN CRAFT" is picking up 'Steam'..."mmci" told me he was excited for you.. X Chisle, on your recommendation, I just bought "Gun Craft". In general I think we need to encourage writers on things like this . I buy books of moderate interest, subject wise, because I know from friends the writing and publishing is not a big money maker, but is big in letting us all have in our hands a book that gives us information that , otherwise, might be lost. Now, Vic's book is in my interest span, and I think it is in the interest span of many other who frequent this BBS. Daryl

Diggory, looking forward to your boxlock book as this is a much neglected area in gun collecting literature. I have one of your signed copies of Vintage Guns and both of Vic's books which sadly are difficult to source here in England. All manage to fill in gaps and well worth the effort of obtaining. That's a free plug for those who do not yet have copies. Lagopus.....

Nice to see Lagopus, Vic and the Guinness drinker from the Eastern seaboard (or is it The East End) being so complimentary. I was privelaged to see Dig's original book in the the raw and the finished article. Given the lessons Dig must have learned from that venture (journey?) his new book should be a Pearler. Can't wait to get my hands on it and learn even more about the elusive Anson & Deeley, men not actions.

Excellent! Just started my digital gun library with your book Dig and also Terry's book. Only mild gripe I have is that the photos are only black and white in the digital format.

Dig, As others have said, it is we who should be thanking you. Great book. Nice work. Just a brief note to say a big "Thank you" to all of you who bought my book Vintage Guns..... The first print run was 5,000 copies and they have all been sold. I believe there are one or two unsigned copies which may become collectors' items.
Another 2000 copies are going to press now. It has sold better than expected in the USA and not as well as hoped here in the UK!
I just signed the contract for the next one The British Boxlock Gun & Rifle and hope to have it finished in September ready for a Spring 2012 release.
