Flues 20. However, bigger minds than mine will have to determine whether it it a high grade or custom stocked. Walt Snyder will know.

I came across this video while searching for historical gunmaking footage. I believe it is Osa Johnson on a hunt and thought you all might like it.

While we're at it, you will probably find these quite interesting as well.

Workers packing rifles (Enfields?).

Workers testing rifles (Enfields also?)

Manufacturing and Assembly

Search around a bit and you will see other related videos, including Browning BAR manufacturing and more.

CMWILL I loved the footage, the people back then knew hard work to be sure ,there was no other way.
The hunting footage was fantastic as well,I have to say though as I get older I seem to feel more empathy toward's the animal in it's "death throw's" not that I think it's anything I'll ever stop pursuing (not as long as the leg's and lung's hold out ) for me being from where I am ,supplementing the freezer via hunting is a deep rooted heritage but I've alway's feel a great peaceful sorrow when taking a large animal...This as alway's made me very concientious of what I'm doing in the field ,and the animal's quick death is of the utmost importance , as is the hunter's responsibility in carrying it through.

All the best and thank-you for shareing
Chris

Neat videos,,thanks for posting..

What type of barreled actions are being spun together in this video? (About 1:45 into it).
Looks like he's using a large bench vise and an even larger receiver wrench.

I like the polishing room footage too. (What safety glasses..)

They look like Model 1917 Enfields or P17 Enfields either being manufactured from left over WW I components or being overhauled for/by the British who were, by 1936 trying to buy small arms whenever and wherever they could. The dogleg bolt handles in the polishing rooms and the rear sight ears are a dead giveaway! JMHO Jerry

I think they got the title wrong. To me it looks like 1917-1918, not 1936. Look closely at the style of clothing. Anyone have a clue whether it's Eddystone, Remington, or Winchester?

Winchester. In the frames showing the top of the action you can see the hole in the rear of the bridge.

Why the hell did they dip them in water before packing? I would think it was some kind of oil or rust inhibator, but still interesting footage. Thanks Michael, ...MIKE...
