chux,I can find no record of this maker.Very unlikely that there is any connection with the famous Scottish maker, Alexander Henry. Most likely a gun made for an ironmonger[Hardware store]or gunsmith that also sold guns.In the event that that there is an address or even a town named on the rib of the gun it may be possible to confirm the seller and his business activity. The proof marks will indicate the manufacturing location and approximate date of manufacture.

Proof marks should tell the tale, as Roy points out. ELG in an oval on the underside of the barrels. Chux? That is the sure way to identify a Belgian gun, except the Belgian SLNE gun I have with Birmingham proofs! Never say never in this business! Mike

Once owned a gun by Thomas Wild that was built on a Belgian barreled action. Birmingham proofed but with Belgian provisional marks .The late Rowland Watson told me that they built a number of guns on these actions around 1910. There were also a lot of imported Belgian tubes used in the Birmingham trade over the years again with Belgian provisional marks .
As to Mr Henry ,is there no other detail? Address etc? where is the gun signed, if it has only the name on the barrel then it is most likely the retailer, although it has been known for an owner to have his name put on his gun .

G.H. Henry
3 New Quebec St.
Portman Sq.
London W
Serial # 1393
20 bore
This is what I know, has alot of proof marks not from belgium that I see. will get pics, very nice shotgun. I found a G.H Henry that was the son of John Manton who was the son of Joeseph Manton, but it says he was a "fitter". That is all I have been able to find.

chux,Surely,a son of Mantons would have the surname Manton! Still unable to find any confirmation of G.H.Henry as an active London gunmaker.Look forward to seeing the pics; of your gun.

Pics sent skeettx, and thanks,,I can not find any info on this gun. A G.H.Henry is listed as the son of John Manton, but can not figure out why he would not use that last name, unless he built guns after John Mantons business was lost in around 1878 I believe and he did not wanted to make his own way??
