I need to replace the pad on a sxs with something that does a better job absorbing recoil. There have been some favorable posts in the past here about the G&H recoil pads but it was unclear how good they are at reducing recoil. Can anyone offer any insights on that?

Thanks in advance, Doverham

I've had G&H install pads on both Parkers and Model 21's. The results were nothing less than perfect! Talk to Paul Chapman I am sure you will be completely satisfied.

They are not for recoil absorbing. I have used them for 25 years with great success.

I just spoke with Paul, he was very helpful. He described the pad as recoil absorbing to some extent -not as much as a Kick-Eez or Pachmayr Decelerator but more so that the Galazan English Recoil Pad (maybe a little friendly competition there!). Since this is for a field gun, it should do the trick.

Thanks for the input.

Doverham:
A G&H pad is superb. But from a strictly scientific standpoint, NO recoil pad "absorbs" recoil. The compression of the pad (if any) merely prolongs the moment of recoil so that it seems to be less to your senses.

Unless someone has recently repealed Newtonian Laws, this fact is immutable.

Thank you, Kensal - I had fallen into a marketing-induced stupor at the hands of those pernicious recoil pad manufacturers!

Quote:
KICK-EEZ® pads reduce more recoil and do it faster than any other pad. Less recoil reduces flinching, eases sore shoulders and cheeks. Unprecedented absorption levels are possible because Sorbothane attenuates shock waves by dispersing energy outward from the impact source.

Advertising may be the one thing that is not subject to Newtownian physics . . . .
