I have an out of state person that wants to send me an old crescent .410 for some work. I work at a local shop that is a licensee. Can he ship directly to our shop or does he have to ship it from a licensee in his state? Do I need to send him a copy of our license? When the work is completed can I send it directly to him or does it have to go to a licensee? I know this has been discussed many times but "search" was not very helpful. Thanks to all who respond.

For repairs he can ship it directly to the shop. I use USPS. When fixed, you can ship it back to him.

Even if I know the shop, I would have to have an up to date copy of their license to cover my tail if the ATF ever got involved. And of course 'signature required;' on delivery.
Don't ever ship a gun without it.

If you send your gun for repairs to Browning, Remington, Ruger, or Galazan, do you get an up to date copy of their license? Have they ever given you one?

A person without a licence may ship a long gun to a FFL holder for repair.
A person without a licence may also ship a long gun state to state to themself.
A person without a licence may also ship a long gun to a FFL holder for sale (transfer of ownership).
If in doubt read the National Firearms Act, BATF regulations, and US Postal regulations.
For shipping handguns I ship via a licenced dealer just to be safe!

I sent a double off recently to Mr. Orlen. I just mailed it off. Sent a shotgun to Galzan, same thing. Recognized names can get your gun stolen, so you don't want to put any recognition on the shipping label.
I didn't have a copy of either's FFL. I once shipped a rifle to a C&R collector in Alaska, and DID enclose a copy of his C&R license. It can't hurt, but ultimately, ATF is going to go to the reciever, if they get involved at all.

We receive drillins for the fitting of claw mounts through the U.S. P.O. from the customer, also UPS and Fed X. Believe the majority come by the PO, we return them the same way.
