The Forend Fastener which was developed, and subsequently patented, by Mr. Curtis for the L.C.Smith double guns consisted of a push rod inserted into a hole in the forend wood and connected to the latch mechanism for engagement with the attach/release lug position on the barrels.

The patent application shows the "push rod" as being part number 18. My question is, by what manner or means is the push pod (Part #18) attached to the release mechanism? It does not appear that the push rod has a male threaded end, so it would have to be held in place by some manner of "cross pin" , etc. etc.

Thanks in advance for any direction I am provided,

Dr.W.E.Brown
