Sorry to relate that the well known gunsmith Dave Higginbotham who specialised in many single shot rifles was shot and killed when a rifle he was removing from a truck discharged. I know of no more details of the exact circumstances. Dave will be very greatly missed not by just his family and friends but all rifle shooters.

Funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow. I never met Dave in person but had corresponded with him by email last week and will forever remember him by his last words in his message to me "Jesus is the reason for the season" . RIP Dave.

I haven't heard any details of the accident yet, but assume that this is the same Dave Higgenbotham of Lone Star Rifle Company fame. While I have never owned an original or recreated rolling block from Dave's capable hands, I have admired several in passing and have always hoped to include one in my small assortment of single shots. He will be missed.
