No. They are totally different guns. The Nitro Special has a drawbolt and the NID does not.

Eddie, This is what a high condition Western Arms should look like. Let us know how "your" gun compars.

It would be easy to convert the stock to a straight grip and then checker it.

I edited my post Walt. Wrong Western,, but thinking of the gun in conversation, the Ithaca product.
Question still remains,,would a Nitro Special (straight grip) butt stock interchange with the Western Arms frame?,,or are they different.

..and it does appear to be an easy one to convert to straight grip.
The Western Arms straight grip posted has a higher comb than the pistol grip W/A though.

Maybe they used a Lefever Nitro Special 'A' grade stock instead,,,if they do in fact interchange.

Nice looking shotgun however it made it to that configuration.

Gentlemen; it is a Westernfield Deluxe and should say so on top of the left barrel. I have one with ejectors which was an option. It is also checkered and came with ivory beads. Most all were made for Wards but my book says a few were marketed under Western Arms name. I have seen one.

However, the checkering on the wrist and forend is not the factory pattern; probably a cut down PG and recheckered. The CC looks original to me. It should also have a W on the barrel lump.

Here is the worn checkering on mine.

Eddie can help if he brings us the important info, especially its serial number. I can tell a lot from that.
2holer, Eddie reported it was marked Long Range. Is your Ward gun so marked? Kutter, I have never tried to fit one to the other but, other then the trigger tang inlet on the nitro, might well be interchangeable. I will visually compare the WA and M-6 Lefever A-grade .410s I have and post later.
I was in the old Knick room (custom shop) some years back and Art Twarz was checkering a straight grip that had been fit to a Nitro in a very similar pattern as the question gun.

Walter, he must have the Western Arms Deluxe if it says long range on it; the Wards doesn't. Like I said, the vast majority was made for Wards and Western Arms marketed a few under their name. So, I was wrong assuming he had the Wards version.

But I have seen one Western Arms version and it had the same checkering as the pic I posted of the Wards. The serial number on my Wards is 294xx; made in 31.

I think in maybe the mid 30s 3" might have been offered. The serial number would tell when it was made. Even so, I wouldn't shoot 3" in it.
