I am familiar with many past posts pro and con the idea of US proofing (other than manufacturers), but don't understand the resistance to it, especially with everyone's reliance on proof marks, and all that they represent, with European guns. It seems to me proofing - here - would be a great idea, and BYW I have no use for government becoming involved in it, or much of anything else, for that matter.

Judge: I pretty much agree with you, but if you review the thread 'Proof House in USA' from about a month ago, you may see this idea of proof is very, very controversial, at least in the United States. I agree with you, most folks of this forum want to see proof marks on their European guns, and likewise want their European guns 'in proof', but when it comes to guns manufactured in the USA, most have an obtuse view of proof which I believe stems from a fear of government interference and control, whether real or imagined.

Socialism is almost the worst.
