These guns are rare and can be unique to itself. Having one nitro prooved would add little value to me as there is not any modern ammo. Owners of such guns who wish to shoot them commonly reload using nitro powder although I suspect it offers little ballistic advantage over blackpowder. Condition, maker, cased with accessories, configuration etc. 5k to 40k maybe more.

Massively dependant on condition, provenance, usability, manufacturer to name but a few. I have seen a few very scrappy single 4's here in the UK go for around 2-3k but there were not examples I would ever choose to use and were generally all black-powder/needed a lot of work. Compare that with a mint condition, cased single 4 with brass cases and a good manufacturer which is easily achieving prices in excess of 10k, if not considerably more.

What if the barrel has been sleeved? How does that effect the price? Thanks, Frank

I know the gun. I predict at least $4K - probably more. It's a hammerless sidelock, it's nitro proofed, and it comes with ammo.

When has anyone ever seen one like that over here?

Over the years Lewis Drake has had a couple of hammerless 4 bores, doubles, rifles, with cartridge cases. Can't say they had modern proofs though.

With these big guns weight is a plus and I believe adds to the value of a 4. Singles are generally several pounds lighter than a double. At 13lbs it should be lively.

I reckon it might lively enough to kick the snot out of you..that seems rather light.
I don't know how much lead a 4 throws...How does it work out using Greener rule of 96 ??
