Yesterday I stripped down a very original J.D.Dougall 12 bore Lockfast for a friend.I suspect it had not been apart for a century or so. Built in 1875. In two places on the action and barrels in very small letters is stamped "special quality".On the interior of the lock, between the arms of the mainspring is stamped J.Stanton and above the upper arm is stamped "highest"
I guess that says it all...Always feel a little humble when I view these pieces of art....A simple rope border on the locks and action, but exquisitely done. Anyway, enough rambling.
