About when did they first appear? Did they start to appear on Germanic guns at the very end of the percussion era or was it well into the breech loading era?

I've seen a few English percussion guns with full blown pistol grip stocks but never a German.

Any pictures or links to pistol gripped, German muzzleloading guns would be greatly appreciated

Many late percussion and early cartridge guns of German / Austrian make have separate pistol grips made of horn or wood. As for early full pistol grips I will have to check.
With kind regards,

Shane,
I've checked some German percussion guns online on Hermann Historica, finding no "real" pistol grip. There are many more there if you are inclined to make a more profound search.

With kind regards,
Jani
