Is anybody familiar with the Nooseneck Hill Club?? I recently saw a very nice Fox shotgun with "Nooseneck Hill Club 1903-2003" gold inlaid in the bottom of the frame along with the bust of a dog with bird. I'm not coming up with any information on such a club. Thanks, Tom

Did you try Google? I just did and came up with the Nooseneck Hill Archery Club, apparently still in operation. That's a place to start your inquiries.
http://www.bizapedia.com/ri/NOOSENECK-HILL-ARCHERY-CLUB.html

Also found a guy selling a Nooseneck Hill Club member button from 1934:

Looks like there are bunch of fitness clubs, "gentlemen's" clubs, golf courses, gyms, etc. on Nooseneck Hill Road in and near West Greenwich and Exeter RI. Most have "Nooseneck" and "Club" in their name.

You might also try calling the Narragansett Gun Club at 45 Nooseneck Hill Rd, West Greenwich, RI 02817.

Took about seven minutes on Google to come up with that info. Just gotta chase the leads.

Replacement, thanks for the detailed response. Yes, I found that info on Google, Yahoo, etc when I checked the internet too. Yeah, I cant get over the number of things with the "Nooseneck" name. My hope was someone here knew more from a different angle.

Was the Fox gun an original, or a modern one built by CSMC? If CSMC, contact them and see who they built it for. If an original Fox, try the Fox collectors' group (or Callahan?) and see if there is any paper trail on that particular gun.

I am not sure if it is the same club but the Nooseneck Hill club is still in operation at Addieville in RI and has been there for 20+ yrs. I don't know when they established the club but it was prior to their affiliation with Addieville.
Thanks

It started it's career as an original Fox Sterlingworth and was chosen to be upgraded to X engraving...very well executed but I dont know by whom. I am curious to find out if the gun was commissioned by "the Club" or perhaps by a proud member. Nice little 16ga straight grip gun.

Good tip on the tie to Addieville, that seems like a very good lead and I will follow up on it.

Thanks for the responses fellas.

I had the gun built for the centennial of the NHC. I was a member at the time. Geoffrey Gournet did the engraving. Nooseneck hunted at Addieville after it lost its land downstate. They are still active.

I noticed that this Fox has been listed on GI very recently and it is very well done. Best of luck to its current owner.
