This will be my first truly "big" gun show. I have gone to several local shows, but none that compare to the size I hear this one is.

My questions is, I live abou 4 1/2 hours away, due to family concerns, I cannot stay the whole weekend. I will be there when the doors open on Saturday and have that whole day to spend there, then I have to return home.

I have been saving up and want to buy my first high end Double. Now my high end double may not be as "high" as others, but still, I want to buy as nice a gun as I have the money to buy. Is there a registration table where I can find the known dealers for Fine Doubles at the show? With the large show, I am worried I won't be able to locate all the guys who have such pieces. I want to see what is there, and then buy the best I can afford. I should also note I prefer L.C. Smiths or Fox guns. Any suggestions on who to try an see that you know will be in attendance?

Best regards and thanks for any advice.

If you are only looking for higher grade doubles... that show will be fairly easy to navigate. What kind of higher grade smith are you looking for? I may be bring down a Smith Skeet Premier. 15"lop to checkered butt, SST, Straight stock, beavertail forearm, 26" bbls....descent figure / fiddle on the stock and beavertail forearm. A couple of years ago at the Louisville show, I came across a 20ga Smith Crown grade with 32" bbls... I still kick myself for not buying that gun

As far as L.C. Smiths' go, I would like to find a Grade 3 or higher on Pre-13 guns, on Post 13 guns, I would prefer to stay with at least on the lower end a Speciality Grade but would prefer higher. I have been looking at a few Crown Grades, but the ones I have found have problems with original finish, wood, etc... I won't pay big bucks for a higher grade gun IF it has been messed with at all. I want original. Your Skeet grade sounds interesting...

Relax, Jason. Just walk in; walk the aisles one by one. You'll soon be able to walk by the tables that dont have your brand of eye candy pretty quickly giving you plenty of time for spending more time looking at what you have in mind.

Where exactly is this show located in Louisville?

If I recall correctly, it's that the Kentucky Exposition Center. I don't have the flyer in front of me so I might be off on the name.

Patience is the name of the game, I will find "the" gun sometime, perhaps at this show, perhaps not.

When you get to Louisville get on the Waterson Expressway (I-264). It circles the city. If you are coming from I-71, go East (or south) to Crittenden which should be about 11 miles. Watch for the signs saying "Expo Center". That is where the show is. You will be able to see the ferris wheels and rides from I-264 when you get to the exit. Once you get down the ramp, you are there. Are you coming south from Chicago down I-75, Bob?

Jason,
As a rule the better quality sxs's are found at the dealers/tables situated to your right as you enter the exhibit hall. The right 1/3 of the room will be your better stuff but you certainly never know where a noteworthy gun will be found.

The left half of the room is usually all Military oriented dealers.

Enjoy the show it's a good one.

Brad

If you do come down I-75, Bob, once you get across the Ohio River into Kentucky it is approximately 20 miles to I-71. Once you get onto I-71 it is approximately 72 miles to I-264. I don't know if that is the way you will be coming, though.

Are we going to wear name tags saying BBS? I usually do. I usually wear a red baseball cap that says: LJUTIC on it.
