Gentlemen, I am sick to my stomach. I have a lovely little 2" BLE by Radcliffe with a big problem. The butt stock is broke in two (through the wrist). It's really a shame... especially considering the wood is quite nice.

So my questions are.....

Can this be fixed/repaired?

Or is a restock the only way?

What can I be expect to pay for a repair?

What can I expect to for a restock?

Who can do the best repair?

Who can a restock this gun at a reasonable price and turn-around time?

Please keep in mind the fact that this is a 2" gun so it won't be subjected to heavy loads. I only emphasize this point because I'd MUCH rather repair it than restock it but at the same time, I don't want to throw money away a repair that won't last.

Thanks for your input.

Adam

Adam,

there are a few people doing great repairs

I can't speak for others so you'll have to wait till they
answer but there have been threads on this site dealing with
this exact situation.

Try searching "broken stock" etc

good luck,
Mark

Adam ,it looks real clean I think it can be successfully repaired ,how invisible will depend on who take's it on ..in the meantime try not to handle it too much ,it would be so easy to loose a small splinter at this point, and the cleaner the break the better the repair.

Good luck ,I'm confident it will work out and please keep us posted.

DES/TSD is one of our own. I've been using Doug Fulton at StockFixers <http://www.stockfixrs.com/> lately and he does great work at a reasonable price. I'm sure that either of these folks can fix your stock to good as new shape...Geo

I wouldn't even think about restocking that gun. Easily repairable by a competent guy, and should be stronger than new with a couple of carbon fiber dowels.

DES/TSD repaired a WC Scott for me that was much worse having been repaired prior by a ham fisted Bubba. The repair was not only strong but invisable.

Most decent technitions can get the repair stable making them invisable is an art.

Our Mark Larson is another good resource. This is what he did for me last year. http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbt...true#Post263691
These old elegant English ladies must develop osteoporsis of the wrist very easily and can inexplicably break in minor mishaps.
After rehab, she is doing fine as you can see in the photo below from about a month ago:

Dennis, aka DES/TSD and Doug Mann's works are both in my safe. Both are tradesmen of the highest order.

I can't speak to what either would charge for a repair. Each repair is different and unique and thus different in costs.

A restock can be any price from a couple of grand or more for labor and up to off the planet for the blank, regardless of artisan.

Any one telling you they can do it for less must bring to mind that you will get what you pay for.

If you elect to have the break repaired, I think you should not wait long to do so. The longer you wait the greater the chance that the repair will be more visable.
