Any one have a copy of the article from UK Shooting Times magazine, back in the early 1980's on the Arrieta Crown Sabel imported by 'Gunmark?'

I well remember one article - it was a review of the gun done by Gough Thomas (he liked it).

I've got some back issues & clippings so I'll check over the weekend if nobody else comes up with it.

I finally found the article I was thinking of. Gough Thomas also commented on the basic elegance of the gun in another of his regular weekly pieces.

Hopefully there should be a image of the article below.

THANK YOU!!! I appreciate your time looking for this! I just won an auction for an article on EBay from American Rifleman that is entitled: "1988 GUN REVIEW- ARRIETA SABEL SHOTGUN." I will post an image of that when I recieve it.

Russell,
My thanks and appreciation as well. I own a 12 ga and although I agree with Mr. Thomas, I didn't realize until your post that he also agreed with me.

Howdy folks: I have a 20b Crown Sabel--nice gun, but I've thought about selling it since I generally carry my 16b these days. Any idea what a 20b Sabel, 27", light handling marks, would bring? Thanks. JK

As a guess...

I would say a 20b under $3k would be a great deal for someone, in the $3ks would a fair starting point, and over $4k is most likely overpriced.

Thad Scott has some 12bs ranging from $2400-$2800, so add 10-15% for a 20b, lands you in the $2640 - $3220 range.

BSA Ltd. had one listed around $3600 and is now gone, and saw one elsewhere on-line for $3400 or so. Not sure where that was or if it is even still there. Both of those were cased, had cleaning tools, and had hand detachable locks.

The article Russell posted from 1980 showed a MSRP of ~US$1170, factor in inflation between then and now, you are at about US$3133 MSRP in 2007 money.

Keep in mind you can find Arrietas starting around $4200 or so. I am not sure what the internal differences truly are between the "entry level" Arrietas and the Crown Sabels.
