I would appreciate any input/assessment of this interesting WC Scott & Son SBT - thanks.

When it was made and what was the original chamber length?

Here's the seller's link:

The serial number of the gun would indicate it was made in 1903. However, in J. A. Crawford's book, "The History Of W &C Scott Gunmakers" we find this quote:

"Scott added a sixth style of gun to their line, a trap gun, shortly before World War I. Distinctive features of trap guns included a ventilated rib with twin ivory sights, half or full pistol hand, beaver tail forend, Monte Carlo stock, Silver's anti-recoil pad, and 27 to 36 inch barrels with half or full chokes. Scott's Single Barrel Trap Gun, a sidelock stocked with Italian walnut and tastefully engraved, sold for $400 in 1928. Seventy-two of these guns were made between 1914 and 1929."

Regardless of the date they appear to be very nice pieces.

Joe - many thanks for the input - this is a cool looking trap gun and sounds like not many were made. $400 was a lot of money in 1928 too.

The stock on this gun looks to be orignal, but is not what I think of as a Monte Carlo, which typically have flat or forward sloping combs and notch at the top of the butt. I think the cheekpiece and backward sloping comb on this gun would be called a Bavarian type stock/comb?

So would the orignal chamber have been 2.5 inches or was it 2.75 inches, with most of these guns being made for the American trap market? Are there any markings on the barrel flats that indicates this? - sorry, the photo is not the best.

Can't answer that, Scaupman without better photos of the proof marks. There is some crud covering up the ounce mark. If it's proofed at 1 1/8 then it has a 2 1/2" chamber. A 1 1/4 oz proof would indicate 2 3/4". The number isn't quite visible in your photo.
