My condolences- I had the pleasure of both speaking with him on the phone (about an article I was trying to write) and also some e-mails, mainly about fly fishing. Austin Hogan was a very well educated man, a gentleman, and an example of the line from my favorite of Kipling's poems- "If"-- to wit: "If you can walk with kings and consorts, and not lose the common touch"-- That was my impression of this gentleman, and all of us who love weapons and try to use them as sportsmen should, have lost a good and sincere friend.
