I have heard it is the remington STS. Heard it from some heavy duty skeet shooters. maybe just gossip...or Maybe that is why they are the most expensive.

My pre-13 LC Smith can be a real bear to open with various primers I've tried. Remington STS work best for me, I atribute it to the metal being soft allowing the pins to drag across the primer face.

Don't know about the softness of the metal, but Remington primers are pretty close to the low end of the scale as far as shotshell pressures are concerned.

Laib's Gunsmiths that specialize in Remington 3200's which have a soft breech face told me to use Remington Primers when reloading as they are softer than the others. Hope this helps.

Cheddite.

Very thin cap.

The winner by a wide margin as far as soft goes.

Thanks for the input.

Fortunately I have large quantities of both the STS and Cheddites. I will test the gun with them.

I was shooting factory Winchesters in my 12 SxS and I had some misfires. I have disassembled and cleaned and all appears ok, but I am testing every angle.

I've had a few FTF's with WW209's of recent manufacture also.

I wish the makers of this stuff would quit tweaking around with it.

I had a William Evans BLE and using Win 209 primers, the firing pins would get hung up and drag on the primers. Gun was very hard to open. Tried Cheddite primers and the problem went away.

Cheddites - many guys and myself find primers that have blown allowing black, burnt powder to leak back out. Don't have this problem with others. Paul
